Control buttons in a train window

Both inbound and outbound train windows in the XPS client contain some of the same control buttons, and some unique to the direction:

Inbound

Outbound

Train button

Click this button to display the Train Call window. You use the Train Call window to view the train's name, track, weight information, and the schedule information.

Car Scan button

Click this button to open a scan view of the entire train. If you select one or more railcars in the Car List, scan views of only those railcars will open when you click the Car Scan button.

Planned Container button

Click this button to get a list of the containers planned to the open train. This feature is useful for load planning.

Current Container button

Click this button to get a list of the containers that are currently on an open train. This feature is useful for discharge planning.

Print button

Click this button to display the controls for printing sequence sheets and railcar plans.

Edit button (Pencil icon)

Click this button to toggle (on/off) the editing mode. In the editing mode, you can edit railcar information directly in the railcar list area of a train window. For example, you can edit a railcar’s inspected or damaged status using the edit mode.

Create Orphans button (available only in solo mode, and only for outbound trains)

In the solo mode, for outbound trains, click this button to create orphans (containers created in XPS, which are not registered in the N4 database).

For example, you can create orphans for empty or remain-on-board containers where exact container ID numbers are not critical, and when you want to use "place holders" during the planning process.

Load List button (outbound only)

Click this button to display the open train’s Load List.

Work Queue (Discharge Queue or Load Queue) buttons

Click this button to view a discharge (inbound train) or load queue (outbound train) for the open train.

Track Plan button

Click this button to view the Track Plan for the train. If your site uses more than one track plan, the XPS client displays a list of track plans that you can choose from.
